The original print run of the Japanese Pokemon Expansion Pack, released on October 20th, 1996, contained what are considered "1st Edition" cards, indicated by their lack of a rarity symbol on the bottom right corner of the card. These "No Rarity" cards are extremely sought-after and are comparable to the Western "1st Edition Shadowless" cards found in the 1999 Base Set expansion.
